Great News for Cache Valley, Bad News For My Wallet!

So today was Big Lot's GRAND OPENING here in town and it is RIGHT next to Hobby Lobby (who lucky for my already has their Christmas out! Yes, I'm one of those people...)

Ahem, back to how this is bad for my wallet. So I went today and got a steal of a deal between the two places! As part of "Project Home", we now welcome out new shelving unit to make our little house more like a home!

OH yeah, and we got this whole ensemble for just under $90! (That mirror was definitely the most expensive part of it, I'm even still debating on keeping it or not; hence the sticker still on it. It just hides our modem and other wires so well). I cannot wait until Christmastime when I can deck it out in all sorts of Christmas Joy.  Eek! I may be way to excited about this.

Good night all,

The Cannon Family.

That Awkward Moment When....

You finally think you have something to post about and then after you do, noticing you already posted it last time you were on. Yes, I just did this. I had just posted a bunch of photos of our home improvements and described little tid bits about each one. Only to find, I already did it!

I promised a friend I would post sometime soon, but we are such boring people! It has been such a wonderful summer for us, and I am very excited for fall and all of the opportunities that will come each day for us to improve and better ourselves. Maybe I can make a "3/4 through the New Year" goal and do more things to share here. Such as how my dad taught me how to make the perfect turkey, our favorite date night ideas, and even more of our home improvements.

Have a lovely day!

Yes, it's been over a year since I've posted, but we've been doing some updates on our home!

I first have to say that I LOVE our little home. The kitchen is very open, its a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath, and it is extremely affordable! When we first got married and purchased it, it had recently been updated in many areas (forced air/heating was replaced, new carpet, appliances, kitchen, and even plumbing and electricity) But some smaller things were left from the 70's when this was built, such as the closets and built in dressers; Small projects that poor college kids like us can handle! I am truly blessed to have a husband who loves home improvement projects as much as I do. It's a time where families work together to not only literally build a strong home, but metaphorically as well. I am grateful for his experiences he had when he was younger to build homes and for his parents raising him to be so motivated to improve. It has really shaped his character in every aspect of his life, and I feel I am the luckiest girl alive! Anyway, no more sappy words, here are some pics of this past year...

We decided to paint our hallway (to the right of the kitchen) a lighter color than what it was to make it feel more open, but I didn't like how it would just come to a halt when it got to our kitchen. So we "combined" the kitchen and the hallway by painting stripes on the adjacent wall! I am very pleased with the outcome. Yes, I am aware that this clock is not centered. I quickly changed that, I promise!

Our outdated coat closet:

I really felt like the rod wasn't taking advantage of how deep this closet is! So much wasted space...

NEW!

I love my little ironing board hooks :) Thank you, Pinterest...

All of our coats back in place. Still have to finish painting the shelf that will rest on the top, but I was just so excited to share!

Our dishwasher, Thanks to the oh so amazing hubby! To be honest, I think I am more excited that we have a disposal now more than the dishwasher...

And then of course, this cheap and simple update really made a difference! I didn't get a chance to grab a "Before" picture. Usually I get so excited to do a project that I forget, but in this case Josh saw a picture of it online and decided to surprise me when I got home from work! It looks 1,000x's better!

Yes, We Are Alive!

I know it has been quite some time since I've been on here, but we are still kicking and breathing! We have been so busy with school and work that time gets away from us. Yesterday we were able to a family thing on the Cannon side and it was a ton of fun to see everyone! It was then that we realized we haven't really been social since the wedding. Anyway, our pictures from our ice skating adventures are up for show! You can view a couple here at littlelottiephotography.com and while you are there, check out some of her other work! Peace out. :]

Our Newest Addition!..

I would like to introduce our newest addition to the family, our 16-piece comforter and sheets set! You are probably thinking at this moment, "Thank you Emily for wasting my time", but let me tell you how absolutely wonderful this is!

First: It was on sale. No explanation needed here.
Second: I love this color scheme, but we are eventually going to turn everything you see that is yellow here into that gorgeous royal teal color once we paint to walls more grey than tan.
Third: The sheets and comforter in this set was woven by angels. I have not slept through an entire night since we have been married until now, and I owe it all to these sheets! I am forever going to be a supporter of the brand, "The Great Find" (sold at your local Kmart).

You may think I am exaggerating, but the sheets felt like the ones at hotels that you want to take home with you. I have been daydreaming about my bed all day and it has been very distracting! Not only is it ultimate comfort, but it looks super cute too!

Making A Memory: Ice Skating!

First off, WHAT A DAY! It has been an absolute blast for us here in the Cannon family. When we first got married, the hubsters and I wanted to capture our first year of our marriage in pictures and do some fun things every season. With the help of our wonderful friend and photographer, Marriane, this has been possible! So excited to see the lovely results of this talented woman (hint: she took pictures in skates, in motion, in an ice skating rink! Talk about skill!) Marianne has definitely been so great to us. Check out her site at littlelottiephotography.com! Stay tuned for the pictures!
